2nd jDeGBS Young Scientists Symposium 2024

We are very happy to reflect on the incredible success of the 2nd jDeGBS Symposium 2024, which took place from September 11-13 at the beautiful Kloster Schöntal. As jDeGBS Committee, it was an honor to welcome an outstanding community of (young) researchers, clinicians, and innovators to discuss on the topic: The Future of Radiation Science. The event featured Educational Talks, workshops on emerging topics in radiation science, as well as ample opportunities for networking.

A special highlight was awarding outstanding contributions with the Dieter Frankenberg Young Investigator Award, Best Paper of the Year Awards for the categories “Biology” and “Medicine”, Travel Awards, and International Travel Awards sponsored by the DeGBS as well as the Best Presentation Awards and Best Photo Award of the jDeGBS.

This year, a new jDeGBS Committee was elected! We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the outgoing team members of the jDeGBS— Elena Sperk, Sha Jin, and Julia Hess-Rieger —for their dedicated and highly successful collaboration in building up the jDeGBS. Your contributions have been invaluable!

From experienced experts to early career scientists, everyone played a role in bringing life and inspiration to the symposium. A heartfelt thank you to all the speakers, attendees, and our dedicated organizing team for making this event such a rewarding experience. Together, we have taken another step forward in advancing radiation science and fostering collaboration across the field. Of course, this would have been a lot harder without the generous support of our sponsors, who recognized the importance of fostering a platform for young researchers and a growing symposium like ours.

We are very much looking forward to continuing these discussions at future events and the 3rd jDeGBS Symposium in 2026!
